Reimagining Historic Space to Support Performing Arts Education

A historic brewery and printing warehouse in downtown Iowa City was reimagined to serve as a new home for a performing arts high school. The renovation preserved exposed brick, wood, and steel while introducing modern classrooms, performance areas, and rehearsal studios. Thoughtful planning created spaces suited for both quiet study and active arts training, including large dance studios filled with natural light. The result is a unique facility that blends historic character with spaces designed to support intensive arts education.
